As the line between wellness and fitness continues to blur, spas are introducing recovery lounges that provide guests with a place to relax and recuperate from the effects of stress and physical activities. Recovery lounges often feature saunas, cold plunges, zero-gravity loungers, massage chairs, salt rooms, LED light therapy devices, and more. Here’s a look at some of the designated recovery lounges that spas have recently opened for their guests.
The Waldorf Astoria Spa at The Roosevelt New Orleans launched a recovery lounge and contrast therapy program that offers an infrared sauna and cold plunge, pneumatic compression therapy, harmonic meditation featuring vibroacoustic sound therapy, and zero-gravity loungers. It also features optional enhancements, such as Therabody SmartGoggles to provide an eye and temple massage designed to relieve eyestrain; red light therapy; and Knesko collagen face and eye masks.
The Conrad Spa at Conrad Los Angeles introduced recovery cabins that are designed to restore balance and revitalize the mind and body. These cabins serve as individual resting spaces to help support technology-driven express services and wellness treatments, such as NuCalm meditation; HigherDose infrared pulsed electromagnetic field mats to ease chronic pain; compression therapy by Normatec to help increase circulation; LED light masks, and more.

Inside the lounge, guests can enjoy a 30-minute oxygen therapy session to normalize the amount of oxygen in the system through a combination of supplemental oxygen delivery and deep-breathing exercises. A selection of spa treatments is also available, including the Recovery Body Treatment, in which buffing grains rich in minerals and magnesium help to gently exfoliate the skin and warm towels work to increase circulation; and the Vail Mountain Body Polish Treatment, which is a deeply exfoliating bamboo scrub that com bines notes of lemongrass with hints of mimosa, jasmine, and ylang ylang to help remove dull, dry skin.
