New AI-Powered Clinical Software Can Fast-Forward Skin Research

An AI company focused on skin science has launched a research platform designed to make clinical skin studies faster to set up, easier to manage, and more practical to conduct on a much larger scale that has traditionally been possible.

Instead of relying solely on traditional in-person studies that are expensive, time-consuming, and limited in size, Haut.AI’s Clinical Studies Software lets researchers run large-scale clinical studies in clinics, remotely from participants' homes, or a combination of both.

“Our goal is not to replace clinical studies,” says Haut.AI’s CEO and co-founder, Anastasia Georgievskaya. “It's to enhance them by making skin measurable at scale. 

“R&D teams that can measure continuously across larger populations don’t just do better science; they make faster decisions.”

Haut.AI's platform uses artificial intelligence to measure skin characteristics from standardized photographs. Participants can capture images using their own smartphones or have photographs taken in a clinic. 

The software analyzes those images using AI models evaluating 48 different biomarkers related to the face, body, and hair, such as: wrinkles, pigmentation, acne, redness, skin texture, pores, and other visible characteristics.

According to Haut.AI, this automation can reduce study setup time from the traditional eight to 16 weeks to just two or three days, letting research teams begin testing much sooner.

One of the platform's most significant advantages is its ability to support much larger studies. By allowing participants to submit images remotely, researchers can potentially enroll hundreds or thousands of participants without proportionally increasing costs or staffing requirements.

Haut.AI says its AI measurement models report strong agreement between its AI-generated assessments and evaluations performed by panels of expert dermatologists.

In validation studies, the system demonstrated excellent repeatability, producing highly consistent measurements when analyzing the same skin characteristics over time. 

The software is intended for companies developing skincare products, cosmetics, dermatological treatments, beauty ingredients, and wellness products.

The technology has already been used by major global beauty and personal care companies, the company says, including long-term skin research programs for Fortune 500 beauty manufacturers and ingredient testing for global suppliers.
