Houston-based, double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Anthony E. Brissett, M.D., FACS, is now the new president of The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). Brissett formally assumed his role on September 20, 2025, during the 2025 AAFPRS Annual Business Meeting in Los Angeles.

Brissett is internationally recognized for his expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery. His clinical practice spans the full breadth of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, with particular specialization in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, trauma care, and reconstruction. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Brissett earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, followed by a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Minnesota.

Brissett currently serves as professor of otolaryngology at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is the vice chair of the department of head and neck surgery and chief of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital. Beyond his clinical work, Brissett is deeply committed to global healthcare and humanitarian efforts. As a board member of the Face the Future Foundation, he has demonstrated a long-standing dedication to building medical capacity and promoting sustainable healthcare solutions in countries around the world. “As AAFPRS President, my goal is to energize our membership through enriched educational opportunities and deeper, more meaningful engagement,” says Brissett. “I’m equally focused on attracting new members, strengthening member retention, and fostering the connections that keep our exceptional community thriving.”
