The Balanced Beauty Pro launches this September to help beauty service professionals care for their bodies while extending the longevity of their careers. Created specifically for estheticians, lash and nail artists, hairdressers, and other beauty service providers, The Balanced Beauty Pro addresses a long-overlooked issue in the industry: the physical toll of the job. Chronic tension, fatigue, poor posture, pain and discomfort are common, yet preventable issues that many beauty professionals face daily.
Co-founder Heather Hughes, a Somatic Movement educator with 13 years working in the beauty industry, developed the course with her sister Tiffany Hughes, a seven-year professional lash artist, to bridge the gap between career longevity and physical sustainability. "As a lash artist, I have seen and experienced first-hand the physical demands of beauty services," says Hughes. "We learn the skills to offer our services, but we are rarely taught how to maintain and support our bodies, even though our bodies are vital to our careers."
The Balanced Beauty Pro teaches a form of Somatic Movement that works with the nervous system to reduce tension and pain with long-term results. This unique series of exercises addresses common tension patterns for beauty professionals to bring balance back to the body. In addition to at-home exercises, the program includes education on postural awareness, the nervous system connection, and ergonomics, all accessible online. It has been designed with busy professionals in mind with easily digestible information. Just 15-20 minutes per day are needed to complete the course in about 4-6 weeks.
