Fall Forward: Discover the Season's Hottest Hair Trends

Bronze Beauty

Maggie Hancock (@maggiemh), artistic ambassador at Redken, shows how to achieve this Fall For You Bronze look.

Lightening Formula:

• Redken Flash Lift Bonder Inside (mixed 1:1 with 20 Volume Pro-Oxide Cream Developer)

Base Color:

• Zone 1 (root): 06N Shades EQ Gloss + Shades EQ Processing Solution (1:1)

• Zone 2 (mid): 07NW Shades EQ Gloss + Shades EQ Processing Solution (1:1)

• Zone 3 (ends): 08GG Shades EQ Gloss + Shades EQ Processing Solution (1:1)

Application:

1. Divide hair into four quadrants.

2. Apply a teasy light technique using medium-to-thick weaves, over-directing each section forward. Tease from the midshaft upward. Feather Redken Flash Lift Bonder Inside + 20 Volume up toward the root for a seamless, lived-in result.

3. Use an air touch technique for back-to-back foils around the hairline to enhance brightness and softness.

4. Lift to Level 9+, then rinse thoroughly.

5. Use Redken Acidic Color Gloss Shampoo and Conditioner to prep the canvas and restore pH.

6. Toning: Apply 06N to Zone 1 (root area) and 07NW to Zone 2 (midshaft) and process both for 20 minutes. Then apply 08GG to Zone 3 (ends) and process for an additional 10 minutes.

7. Rinse thoroughly with cool water. Style as desired.

Soft Styles

Celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos (@dimitrishair) says that this fall is all about soft, voluminous texture with just the right amount of movement—think modern Parisian layers or a blunt bob with an undone edge.

Step 1: Before reaching for the hairdryer, be sure the haircut has structure. This fall, it’s all about face-framing layers or a sleek, one-length bob that hits just below the chin—effortless, elegant, and wearable.

Tip: Invisible layers or internal shaping give volume without the harsh lines, which is key for that French-girl feel.

Step 2: After washing, brush damp hair with a Mason Pearson brush. The bristles distribute natural oils, smooth out tangles, and create beautiful shine.

Tip: Work from the ends up in sections—don’t rush this part.

Step 3: Blow-dry hair using the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer because it dries quickly and protects from heat damage, which helps maintain natural softness. Use the smoothing nozzle for a sleek finish, or the diffuser if working with natural texture or waves. Flip hair and rough-dry the roots to build volume. Then section the hair and smooth it out with a round brush to create movement.

Tip: Dry the hair in the direction you want it to lay. It makes a big difference with a sharp middle or deep side part.

Step 4: Once hair is dry, finesse the ends. Add bends with a flat iron or a wand to break up the cut—this fall’s look isn’t overly polished. It’s lived-in, soft, and cool.

Step 5: Finish with L’Oreal Paris Elnet Satin Strong Hold Classic Hairspray. Spray it through the mid-lengths and ends to hold that soft movement, and mist lightly at the crown for volume control.

Tip: Always spray from a distance and brush through it with your fingers for a more natural, airy finish.
