Meet Alfredo Gonzalez, director of spa at Spa by JW at JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek (FL), who has 18 years of experience in the spa and hospitality industry.
What was the path that led you into the spa industry?
I have over 18 years of experience in hospitality, with a strong focus on the luxury spa industry. My career began as a program advisor at Canyon Ranch Living in North Miami Beach, where I quickly advanced to supervisor and then department manager. In less than two years, I was promoted to associate spa director, and over time, I continued to refine my leadership skills, progressing into spa director roles across several prestigious, high-end properties, where I continue to lead and grow today.
Where do you think the industry is heading?
The luxury spa industry is experiencing strong growth, driven by travelers looking for wellness and self-care. Guests now want personalized experiences, treatments that benefit body, mind, and spirit, and services that are eco-friendly and connected to local culture. Technology and wellness memberships are changing how spas operate, while luxury is shifting from fancy décor to meaningful, tailored experiences. Highly skilled and empathetic staff are more important than ever, as guests expect treatments that are both relaxing and truly beneficial.
What are your three greatest priorities in life?
My greatest priorities in life center on purpose, growth, and service. I hope to make a positive difference in the lives of others, offering support, care, and small moments of joy wherever I can. I am committed to continually learning and growing, deepening my understanding, empathy, and self-awareness so I can better contribute and lead by example. Above all, I strive to live with integrity and intention, making choices that reflect my values and allow me to quietly contribute to something larger than myself.
