Technogym & World Athletics Launch World Treadmill Championship

Technogym and World Athletics are launching RUN X, the first World Treadmill Championship. The competition aims to make global athletics competitions more accessible in sports and fitness centers globally. The 5km competition will be held in late 2026 with a $100,000 prize pool. Fitness clubs can affiliate with the contest starting in early 2026, with interested runners able to register soon after. The results of the 5km will be certified through the treadmills connected to the Technogym Digital Ecosystem. The top ranked runners in each country will advance to a regional championship before the world final. Participates will be categorized by age group and the world’s top 10 male and 10 female runners will compete for the RUN X title. “We are delighted to partner with Technogym, for the World Treadmill Championship,” says Sebastian Coe, president of World Athletics. “Together, we aim to create a virtual competition space that builds a global community, entertains and motivates amateur runners to compete and connect with a worldwide virtual community. By combining the best of Technogym’s running technology with the reach and universality of athletics, this event promises to revolutionize the world of E-sports.”
